Digital Innovation at VILNIUTECH Building: The usBIM Ecosystem in Action

Published by admin on

A long-held vision has come to life with the successful development of a working usBIM ecosystem by Professor Dr Artūras Kaklauskas and his team.

This system was developed at VILNIUTECH Plytinės Building as a comprehensive digital environment that connects BIM models, IoT sensors, and biometric data within a unified cloud platform.

usBIM-based digital twin serves as a testbed for exploring how technology can enhance the relationship between people and buildings. By combining traditional building sensors with experimental biometric and emotional data streams, the system enables real-time analysis of occupant behavior, physiological comfort, and environmental performance.

This hybrid research platform supports:

🧠 AI-based adaptive building control algorithms

🎓 Data-driven design and digital twin education in university courses

🤖 Human–machine interaction experiments using emotion and facial-recognition sensors

🏗️ New interdisciplinary research methods blending architecture, engineering, and cognitive science

Skills4Deca has utilized this setup as a prototype for next-generation smart-building and human-centric BIM research.
